Moscow-Pullman Daily News (ID) - 10/25/2014

Oct. 25--Moscow Parks and Recreation Department and Families Together for People with Disabilities are partnering to give parents who have a child with a disability a day out 10 a.m.-3 p.m.Dec. 13.

The event will be at the Eggan Youth Center, 1515 East D St.

Parent Shopping Day Out is being hosted by Families Together, a nonprofit organization that believes family involvement and support are essential for individuals with disabilities to reach their potential and maintain a secure and meaningful life.

The event provides a day of respite for parents and an opportunity for children to come together, have fun and socialize in a welcoming environment.

Buddies for each child from Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and Delta Zeta sorority will help the children to enjoy an atmosphere of fun with games, movies, crafts and pizza, while their parents will get an opportunity to get out, do some shopping or just relax.

Registration is required by 5 p.m.Dec. 8. Visit the City of Moscow Parks and Recreation registration site at http://moscowrecreation.sportsites.com, click on Youth Enrichment Classes, and then Parent Shopping Day Out.

For details about the organization partnering with the city to offer this event, contact Families Together representative Denise Wetzel at (772) 538-4404 or email at denise@familiestogether.org.
