The Center for Disability Empowerment and the Fair Housing Association of Central Ohio will hold "Fair Housing 101" from 6:30 to 8 p.m.April 17 at the Church and Community Development for All People, 946 Parsons Ave., Columbus.
Topics covered will be the nondiscrimination requirements of the Fair Housing Act and Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, the seven accessible design and construction requirements of the Fair Housing Amendments Act, what property owners are required to consider a reasonable accommodation request by a person with a disability, and what tenants and landlords need to know about service and emotional support animals.
The event also will have one-hour continuing education units available for real estate agents by the Ohio Department of Commerce.
