BRIEF: Ex-aide avoids prison in theft of money from nursing home patient

Buffalo News - 4/14/2017

April 14--LOCKPORT -- A former nursing home aide was placed on five years' probation Thursday for stealing $3,400 from a patient.

State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. could have sent Amanda N. Kissell to prison for as long as four years. Kissell, 34, of Ashland Avenue, Niagara Falls, still risks that sentence if she fails to pay back the money or otherwise violates the terms of probation.

Kissell stole and forged checks from the checkbook of a female patient in Niagara Rehabilitation Center in Niagara Falls between Dec. 23, 2015, and April 19, 2016.
