OSU wants to offer more jobs to Ohioans with disabilities

Dayton Daily News - 4/18/2017

April 18--With an exclusive partnership, Ohio State University will try to employ more people with disabilities.

OSU is working with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities to place an OOD specialist at the university.

The partnership marks the first time OOD has embedded an employee within a single organization, according to OSU.

Lucy Muchmore, an OSU alumna, will serve in the position that aims to identify opportunities and enhance hiring and retention rates of disabled individuals at Ohio State.

"This is a fantastic example of an innovative university and state partnership that will create more career opportunities for Ohioans," said Alison Mincey, associate vice president in OSU's office of human resources.

OOD is the state agency responsible for workforce development for people with disabilities. OOD and the university also provide training to the Ohio State community on interviewing, hiring and working alongside individuals with disabilities.

The partnership was made possible by a three-year grant from the Poses Family Foundation, according to Ohio State.
