Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Caregiver Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. at Brookdale Oxford, 100 Azalea Drive. Please join us for a program on: Respite Care: What it is and why caregivers need it. Refreshments are provided compliments of Brookdale! The mission of the group is to provide information, resources and support for those caring for individuals who have memory loss. All caregivers are welcome. The 3rd Annual Oxford Charger Athletic Booster Club "Boosters and Blues" will be held at The Powerhouse at 7:30 p.m. This event is a fundraiser for the 22 award-winning athletic programs in the Oxford school district. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Jimmy Harris of Funky's/The SoundCenter in Clarksdale. Tickets may be purchased from any Booster Club Board Member for $50 each or email

The Piecemakers Quilting Guild of Oxford will be meeting at the First Presbyterian Church, 924 Van Buren Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. and our program will be a presentation on "Folded Blocks" directed by Linda Levy. Visitors are welcome.

The Oxford Civic Chorus is holding auditions for the fall performance on Aug. 21 and 28. Auditions will be at 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Membership is $40 plus concert attire. Interested in being an Oxford Park Commission soccer referee and earning between $12 and $20 per game? U.S. Soccer Federation certification is required for all OPC referees. Don't have one? No need to fret. An Entry Level course is being held at the OPC main office on Saturday, Aug. 19. You must be at least 12 years old to become certified. Mississippi 1817-2017: Exploring 200 Years. In celebration of Mississippi's Bicentennial, the Oxford Newcomers and Friends will present monthly programs for the public, including lectures and field trips, which provide opportunities to learn about critical elements from Mississippi's past, present, and vision for the future. Topics include Civil War heritage, roles of women, the power of the press, services and resources unique to ?aging in place,' education, and the economy. The Mid-Town Farmer's Market will be open through October on Saturdays 7-11 a.m. and Wednesdays 7 -12. The market has locally grown produce, baked goods, flowers, and musical entertainment.

The Lafayette County Mississippi Homemakers Clubs meet on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Lafayette County Extension Office Auditorium on Highway 7 South. Anyone who has a loved one in recovery or addiction to drugs or alcohol is invited to Family Hope & Healing, a free support group offered by Oxford Treatment Center. The group is led by clinical therapist Kelly Ferguson, LPC, at the Oxford

Nar-Anon is a 12-step support group for families and friends who have been affected by addiction. We offer help by sharing our experience, strength, and hope. Meetings are held each Monday at 6 p.m. at the Oxford-University Methodist Church in room 419.

Empowering Young

Women for Change, a teen support group for girls in ninth through 12th grade, meets Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m., to build self-esteem and empower these young women throughout high school. The group focuses on topic such as drugs, alcohol, dating, relationships with parents, anxiety and depression and more. Contact Carly at 601-431-6029 for information.

Oxford Community Market: Is open from 3-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Old Armory Pavilion. Local produce, eggs, meats, baked goods, honey, flowers and more. Children's Morning Movie: Every Monday at the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library at 10 a.m.

Toddler Time: Every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library for children under the age of 2 and their caregivers and at 10:30 a.m. for children age 3 and up and their caregivers.

Bingo: The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Water Valley

has bingo every Friday night. Doors open at 6 and bingo starts at 7.

VFW Post 3978, located at 125 Veterans Drive, will have karaoke each Friday. Doors open at 5:30 and dancing and singing begins at 7. Admission is $5.

VFW Post 4100 in Water Valley located on hwy 315 will have bingo every Friday night. Doors open at 5, sales at 6 and games start at 7. There's also a dance every Saturday night with doors opening at 6 band starts at 8 until midnight.
