Cancer prevention workshop available this month

Local residents are invited from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Banner Boswell Medical Center, 10401 W. Thunderbird Blvd. in Sun City to learn more about cancer prevention strategies through healthy eating and wellness activities.

Speakers for the event include Dr. Jason Samuelian, who specializes in radiation oncology and currently serves as the chair of the Boswell Cancer Committee, a Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited program. His research interests include stereotactic radiosurgery for thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies, oligometastatic disease, and participation in cooperative group clinical research. He has published and presented his research at national meetings.

Dr. Marianne Milden-berger, who will also speak, specializes in radiation oncology, is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, American Brachytherapy Society, American College of Radiology, British Columbian Association of Radiation Oncology, and Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology, among others.

Banner Boswell Medical Center dieticians will provide food demonstrations, recipes and answer questions. Healthy food samples and drinks will be available. Additional information about Meals on Wheels, Banner Olive Branch Senior Center, American Cancer Society, USDA/FDA Food Safety, will be located in the main lobby outside Memorial Hall.
