BRIEF: Memory loss, dementia care will be focus of free conference on Oct. 23

Oct. 16--A day-long educational conference on Oct. 23 in Yakima will provide tools and encouragement to family caregivers and health care professionals caring for those with dementia.

The free conference will take place at the Yakima Convention Center, according to a news release.

Topics will include finding hope in the face of loss, self-care for caregivers and advance care planning for those with dementia.

The sessions, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., will be offered in English and Spanish, and are free for family caregivers. A special track for health-care professionals is $50. A complimentary box lunch is provided to all attendees.

The conference is hosted by the Alzheimer's Association Washington State Chapter and sponsored by The Memorial Foundation and Virginia Mason Memorial.
