RIVERSIDE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SOCIAL SERVICES: MORENO VALLEY (FOOD STAMPS, GENERAL RELIEF AND MEDI-CAL)

Information provided by: Riverside County Office on Aging

The Assistance Programs consist of Food Stamps, General Relief, and Medi-Cal. Food Stamps provide aid in the form of coupons for limited grocery items. The Food Stamp Program is designed to promote the general welfare and to safeguard the health and well-being of the nation's population by raising the levels of nutrition among low-income households. Eligibility for this program is income-based. General Relief (GR) is a small, County-funded, vouchers-only program and is generally a source for needy individuals who may not qualify under the primary aid programs. The County provides for limited funding directly to the housing provider. The program also provides for a modest food supplement. Medi-Cal is health insurance for California residents with limited income and resources. Medi-Cal is health care insurance for children, pregnant women, families, the elderly, blind and disabled. Medi-Cal can pay for the expenses of pre-natal care, dental care, physical therapy, pharmacy services, vision care, nursing home care, emergency medical transportation and other medical expenses.

Poor service

They did not provide us for American sign language for us as deaf senior citizens. We came there twice for nothing as we sat for 3 hours. Had an appointment with an interpreter but they did not know what to do with us. The previous building on Cottonwood Lane the former staff always make sure that we would get an interpreter in advance for an appointment visit with social workers.

Very poor service

For Two Days I've tried to talk to someone concerning my EBT card. First day i was put on hold twice and left on hold for 1 hour & 15 minutes then again for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was 5:30 when I hung up and tried to call back to find out it was closed. That was on 10/12/23. Today I tried calling back 10/13/23 and the phone system hung up on me four times. They need to work on customer service especially when it comes to the phone.
