RIVERSIDE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SOCIAL SERVICES: TEMECULA (FOOD STAMPS, GENERAL RELIEF AND MEDI-CAL)

Information provided by: Riverside County Office on Aging

The Assistance Programs consist of Food Stamps, General Relief, and Medi-Cal. Food Stamps provide aid in the form of coupons for limited grocery items. The Food Stamp Program is designed to promote the general welfare and to safeguard the health and well-being of the nation's population by raising the levels of nutrition among low-income households. Eligibility for this program is income-based. General Relief (GR) is a small, County-funded, vouchers-only program and is generally a source for needy individuals who may not qualify under the primary aid programs. The County provides for limited funding directly to the housing provider. The program also provides for a modest food supplement. Medi-Cal is health insurance for California residents with limited income and resources. Medi-Cal is health care insurance for children, pregnant women, families, the elderly, blind and disabled. Medi-Cal can pay for the expenses of pre-natal care, dental care, physical therapy, pharmacy services, vision care, nursing home care, emergency medical transportation and other medical expenses.

We moved from Riverside County to LA County and this office STILL has not completed our transfer to our new county!! It’s been over FOUR months! Our child is desperately needing to see a specialist in our new country and can’t because this office can’t seem to do their job! His health is now in jeopardy because of this delay and I’m furious! We’ve had to drive over TWO hours back to this office in a country we no longer even live in to try and get them to complete our transfer because they don’t answer their phones or return voicemails. Each time we were told in person to our face that our case was just sitting there and they’d fix it and not to worry! Another two months have passed and we have to drive all the way back again to talk with a caseworker because STILL they haven’t transferred us to our new county! Someone in this office is clearly not doing their job!
