Riverside County Regional Medical Center operates a Center of Excellence for Abuse Services. The Center of Excellence is available to provide a comprehensive assessment to evaluate underlying problems of dependent adults and elders suspected of having been mistreated. Problems are uncovered, described, and explained. Evidence of abuse from a medical perspective is clearly documented. Resources and strengths of the persons are defined, service needs assessed, and a coordinated care plan is developed. Assessment may be used by victim or by government agencies involved in protecting victim, in establishing injuries and vulnerabilities, or to develop a plan for protection.
