Card Creation events reach out to nursing home residents

Area residents are invited to help make nursing home residents' lives a little brighter - and have fun doing it - by creating cards for them.

Libraries throughout Madison County will hold Card Creation sessions Jan. 13 through 17 for anyone young and old to craft greeting cards. Libraries hosting the event include:

The Sullivan Free Library in Bridgeport from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13.

The Canastota Public Library from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The Oneida Public Library from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The Hamilton Public Library from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The Morrisville Public Library from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 15.

The DeRuyter Free Library from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 16.

The New Woodstock Free Library (in conjunction with the Thursday Night Out program) from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16.

The Cazenovia Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

The Sullivan Free Library in Chittenango from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

Cards will be distributed to residents at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, Oneida Health Care Extended Care Facility and The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing (formerly Stonehedge in Chittenango.

The project is being organized by the Madison County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Madison County Office for the Aging, Inc. as part of the 25th annual National Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service observance. RSVP is funded by a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
