City of El Paso offers free rides for at-risk groups to COVID-19 vaccination sites

Seniors, people with disabilities and anyone living with transportation insecurity in El Paso County can get a free ride to a COVID-19 vaccination site, city officials announced Tuesday.

The city of El Paso's partnership with Project Amistad, a nonprofit that serves elderly, people with disabilities and at-risk communities, will be able to take participants to any vaccination site in the city.

The city requests those who want to arrange a pick-up time to call 915-212-6843 at least 24 hours in advance of their appointment.

The city is able to register and vaccinate at any city vaccination site.

Walk-up clinics are available:

8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday at the El Paso Convention Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday at 220 S. Stanton St., 9341 Alameda Ave. and 7380 Remcon Circle

For those that have received their first-dose and are still waiting to receive their second shot, city officials say to schedule an appointment by calling 915-212-6843.

Regardless of vaccination status, public health officials continue to recommend community members keep wearing face masks, physically distancing from others and washing hands frequently.
