The Cyberlink System is a mouse emulator designed to provide hands-free computer operation for individuals with upper extremity disabilities. The device uses a headband/sensor harness to detect electrical signals on the forehead resulting from subtle facial muscle, eye, and brain activity. These signals are amplified and digitized and sent to the computer where the Cyberlink software decodes the signals into ten BrainFingers for continuous cursor control. Eye motions and facial gestures are also decoded into mouse button clicks, keystrokes, and cursor resolution control. The system supports hands-free mouse, keyboard, joystick cursor control, switch closure, video game control, and music and art synthesis. It features a Windows95/98 mouse driver for hands-free control of third-party software, including games, business software, Internet browsers, and a range of assistive technologies. The system includes the Cyberlink Interface Unit, the Cyberlink Headband/Sensor Harness with three sensors, Cybergel, software (including three games and a music program), the Windows95/98 mouse driver, cables, six months of software upgrades and a user manual.
