The Universal Switch, models 1671 and 1671-8, is a versatile, multi-faceted touch switch that can be activated by use of the chin, head, any part of the arms or legs for individuals with severe physical disabilities. Only one gram of force is needed for activation, but it is sturdy enough to withstand severe blows. If the switch is struck too hard, the spring will absorb the blow and return to the prepositioned station within the user's reach. The Universal Switch has various mounting capabilities. It comes with a 5/8" thread for mounting to a gooseneck and clamp, a 1/4" thread for attachment to the Magic Arm (see separate entry) positioner or other device that uses a camera-type thread mount, or a receptacle for a 1/4" rod or tube to be used in conjunction with wheelchair/workstation mounting hardware.
