The Maestro is a handheld direct selection or scanning communicator designed for use by individuals with significant communication, speech, language and learning disabilities. This device can be used for in-person day-to-day communication and real-time communication, and it supports language and literacy development. It has a magnesium case. The Maestro is available as a Dedicated communication device or in an open configuration that provides the user access to all areas of the fully functioning Windows 7 computer. It has an LCD touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users can access the device via touch, joystick, switch joystick, audio touch, visual or auditory scanning, mouse pause and head-trackers, and Morse code. InterAACT, the built-in language framework provides distinctive vocabularies for users of differing ages, physical and cognitive abilities, and levels of independence. The open version of the device provides users with access to Windows-based software applications and the Internet. Onscreen keyboards and mouse controls enable those with physical disabilities to access Window-based applications in addition to the communication software. The onboard infrared (IR) environmental control unit also allows users to control IR phones and common household appliances, such as TVs and DVD players, equipped with infrared receivers as well as X-10 controllers. Two front-mounted, full-range speakers ensure that messages are delivered crisply and clearly, and it has an internal microphone. It has an Intel Atom 1.6 gigahertz (Ghz) processor and 64-gigabyte (GB) solid state drive as well as two USB 2.0 ports, two external switch ports, an infrared port, an external speaker (headphone) jack and a microphone jack. The Maestro also has Bluetooth (for use with wireless keyboards and mobile phone text messaging), WiFi and a 2-megapixel camera. Microsoft Windows 7, a 1-GB flash drive, carrying handle/stand, shoulder strap, Quick Start Guide, Page Editing Software (on two CDs), CDs containing Training Materials, User Content and Upgrade Files, DynaVox Series 5 Software with InterAACT, DynaSyms Symbols, Picture Communication Symbols (PCS), AT&T Natural voices, Acapela HQ voices, Microsoft Voices, Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro, and a stylus pen are also included. In addition to U.S. English, the Maestro is available U.K. English, German and bi-lingual Spanish/English or French/English versions at no extra cost (must be specified at time of purchase). POWER: Uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (included) or a power adapter (included). Average battery run time is 3 hours per charge. An extended battery is available that offers 9.5 hours per charge. OPTIONS: Transportation carrying case, accessible carrying case, AccessIT, PhoneIT, headmouse/headtracker, DECtalk.
