Menus That Talk is a voice output menu device designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This portable, compact device speaks to restaurant guests describing food items selected by the customer. The device consists of a hand-held touchscreen unit approximately the size of a DVD case. A snap-in menu insert has text and braille, customized for the restaurant's menu. Guests press illuminated buttons corresponding to menu categories to hear the names of the menu items, along with brief descriptions that can include wine suggestions, sides, and prices. A single touch reads the menu category, and pressing again reads the individual items. Available languages include English, Spanish, French, Italian, or German. The unit comes with a detachable earphone.
