RealSpeak Word is a speech synthesizer and voice output dictionary program designed to provide voice output for electronic talking dictionaries. The dictionary developer can embed this text-to-speech program in a dictionary product to provide voice output via a coding-by-synthesis architecture that requires no recordings, and uses just 3 megabytes (MB) of read-only memory (ROM) to cover as many as 60,000 words. The manufacturer offers professional integration services to port this program to customer platforms. The program delivers crisp, clear sound and high intelligibility. The program comes with RealSpeak Word Studio, a PC tool that enables talking dictionary developers to add as many as 150,000 words with accurate pronunciations. The program runs on a 1 or 2 MIPS HOST processor when combined with the manufacturer's SSFT6040 chip, or as software only, requiring no more than 12 MIPS.
