The Advocate Redi-Code Talking Glucose Meter, model TD-4223, is a voice output glucose analyzer designed for use by individuals with diabetes who are blind or have low vision. This talking unit provides results in English or Spanish in 7 seconds. Results are also presented on a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. The unit requires no coding, and uses a small blood sample size of 0.7 microliters, which may be taken from other parts of the body besides the fingertips, such as the palm, forearm, upper body, calf, or thigh. Data management includes a 450-test memory. A Ketone warning is given for results above 240 mg/dl. The unit comes with an owner's manual, a quick reference guide, and a carrying case.
