---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To design a prototype GPS device system for individuals with visual-impairment and/or blindness can use with a guide dog for greater mobility and freedom getting around new and unfamiliar territories. Since guide dogs usually come trained for individuals to use while getting around the local neighborhood, this can be limiting to mobility and independence to individuals with disabilities when exploring new and unfamiliar territories. The Peepo GPS Device gives these individuals a certain degree of freedom to travel beyond the normal route. The GPS system charts the course and uses a series of vibrations to steer the dog to the desired destination. The two-part device is comprised of a handheld GPS unit, which uses vocal commands to register the destination and map it. The second attaches to the guide dog’s handle and gives subtle directions via vibration zones; L= Left, R= Right, F= Forward and up on arriving the destination, the zones simultaneously vibrate. The best feature unique feature of this device is that it has a touch “return home same way function”, providing a measure of reassurance to the user. TITLE: GPS Guided Dog. WEBSITE: Yanko Design.
