The MV-1 is a minivan with ramp designed for use by individuals who use wheelchairs. Designed from the ground up for wheelchair accessibility, this vehicle was engineered according to the principles of Universal Design, which allow for the ease of accessibility regardless of any mobility issues. It provides for the accessibility of most wheelchairs and scooters, while providing a comfortable and safe ride for all. This vehicle is equipped with an integrated deployable ramp with a shallow ramp angle of 4.1:1, ramp lighting, and an anti-slip surface. The ramp stores under the floor of the vehicle so interior space is not lost. The optional power ramp deploys at different aspect ratios to address various vehicle entry and exit scenarios and has a 6:1 slope. The vehicle seats up to six and has a generous doorway with low step-in that allows easy entry for all passengers. Passengers using wheelchairs or scooters can easily enter and turn so they can sit next to the driver. A six-way adjustable commercial driver’s seat is provided for maximum operator comfort. This vehicle has a body-on-frame design in which the MV-1's frame mounts to the body to create a rigid structure that supports the drivetrain. Fully boxed and tubed supportive cross members provide additional frame stiffness and durability. The fully-boxed frame also has high-strength steel reinforced front and rear bumpers and steel side-impact beams. This vehicle also has front Short Long Arm (SLA) suspension that provides a tight turning radius and a rack and pinion steering gear; a de Dion rear suspension with steel leaf springs and air shocks; and a Ford 4.6 liter 2V EFI V8 Engine and Ford Electronic 4-speed Automatic Transmission with Overdrive. The frame is coated with a rust inhibitor to increase longevity of the vehicle. Other features include: Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control to reduce the chance of spinout or roll-over; anti-slip surface on the floor and ramp; four-wheel power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes (ABS); a side-entry ramp system that allows passengers to enter and exit away from street traffic; multiple grab handles for additional support and stability for all passengers; 10 Q-Straint universal floor tracks to secure wheelchairs and scooters; and flexible seatbelt location for wheelchairs and scooters. Also included are a driver's side airbag and collapsible steering column to maximize driver protection; all-season tires and tire-pressure monitoring system; a 24-Gallon gasoline tank with an estimated 350-mile range; daytime running lights; passive anti-theft system; and an electronic cutoff switch to prevent driver from operating vehicle while ramp is deployed, and to prevent unintentional deployment while vehicle is in operation. The optional power ramp is equipped with a manual override. The steel wheels have center wheel covers. Standard equipment includes power tinted windows, power locks, power adjustable side-view mirrors, two front and two rear auxiliary power outlets, two front and two rear cup holders, and a rear area heater and air conditioning outlet.
