The VP-200 Videophone is a video display telephone designed for use by people who are deaf or hard or hearing and use sign language to communicate. The VP-200 is designed to be used with the Sorenson Video Relay Service (SVRS), and it allows the user to place and receive SVRS calls to people who have a regular telephone as well as direct calls to people who have another videophone. This video telephone also provides access to SVRS’s SignMail service which delivers messages in ASL using video recordings transmitted to the phone. It connects to a standard television (CRT or flat screen) with composite audio/video (A/V) input and to the Internet via an Ethernet connection to broadband DSL or a cable modem with a minimum upload and download speed of 192 kilobits per second (kps). One CATS RJ-45 Ethernet cable and one composite RCA A/V cable are included. The VP-200 is controlled through a series of onscreen navigation menus that are accessed through a remote control (included). It includes a camera, which can adjusted (pan, tilt and zoom) mechanically or electronically using the remote control. It also has a video ring indicator. The VP-200 can store up to 500 contacts, stores recently called numbers, and tracks missed calls. It has automatically searches for and downloads software updates, and it has an automatic screen saver. POWER: The main unit requires a 120-volt, 60-hertz AC power outlet; the remote control requires two AAA batteries (included).
