The PowerTel 680 is an amplified, hearing aid compatible, large button corded and cordless telephone with speakerphone, answering machine and visual and vibrating telephone signal designed for use by individuals who have low vision or are hard of hearing. It includes a base with corded handset, cordless handset and charging base for the cordless handset. Both handsets amplify incoming sound up to 50 decibels (dB), and the base offers five adjustable ringer levels up to 90 dB and nine ringtones. The base has a flashing visual ringer, and the handset has an additional visual ring indicator. The phone features five equalizer tone settings, caller ID with 30 number recall, 200 name and number phonebook, clock and alarm function, and paging function on base to locate the cordless handset. The cordless handset has a two-line illuminated display that shows information in three languages - English, Spanish or French. The answering machine, which is incorporated into the base, has an LED message counter, 11 minutes of recording time with time and date stamp, and large buttons. Messages can play on the speakerphone or through the handset. The handset and the base have a 2.5 millimeter headset jack. Up to four additional cordless handsets (sold separately) can be used with the PowerTel 680. The PowerTel 680 also includes a visual and vibrating wireless telephone signal that is worn like a bracelet or wrist watch. This wireless device, which is also available as the PowerTel 601 (see separate entry), vibrates and an LED indicator flashes when a call is received. The signal unit is water resistant, has “low battery” and “out of range” indicator lights, and can be used for up to 50 hours in standby mode without recharging. It also has the ability to answer calls in speakerphone mode and a dedicated button to automatically dial emergency numbers. POWER: The bases are powered by a 100-240 volt, 50/60 hertz plug; the cordless handset uses a AAA 2.4 volt 750mAh NiMH battery pack (included). The wrist unit has a rechargeable battery. The unit is placed on a charger with an AC adapter (both included) when its battery need charging. WARRANTY: Two year warranty.
