The Eye-Scan is a voice output reading machine designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The Eye-Scan scans text or numbers or numbers on paper placed on its flatbed scanner, reads the text using optical character recognition (OCR) technology, and speaks the text aloud. The unit starts reading the document within 10 to 12 seconds in a clear female or male voice. The volume is adjustable using a control wheel on the base of the unit. The Eye-Scan recognizes paper currency so it may also be used as a money reader. The Eye-Scan is controlled with a keypad with large tactile buttons, which include functions such as start, pause and mode that can adjust the device to reading a document with text in column or tabular formats. The system comes with EyeScan software installed and internal speakers. DIMENSIONS (Base unit) (HxLxW): 4 x 13 x 10.25 inches; fits paper up to 8.5 x 11 inches. WEIGHT: 9.5 pounds.
