---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To design a prototype of a combination finger reader with a wireless speaker using Bluetooth technology for individuals who are blind or have low vision for shopping at grocery stores and other retail establishments. The Finger Reader has two components, a finger-worn device and Bluetooth headset. The reader scans a product bar code and/or Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and then communicates information about the product audibly through the Bluetooth headset to the user. The finger device is made from a soft material and is capable of fitting a variety of finger sizes while allowing free movement of the user’s finger. The Bluetooth headset and the reader snap together and have a small hole at the top to attach a cord to allow the user to hang the device from his or her neck when not in use. The user can listen for information such as product description, price, ingredients and nutrition. TITLE: The Reading Finger. WEBSITE: Yanko Design.
