The XeroSox Waterproof Cast Cover is a cast or bandage cover designed for persons with a leg or arm injury that use a cast. This product allows the cast to get wet. The vacuum seal can be checked at any time by seeing a dimple in the pump. The cast cover can be used for postoperative physical therapy after surgery as it helps to prevent swelling and stiffness. Cast can be used to cover prosthetics. The built in pump allows the user to see if the vacuum seal is still intact. Has a non-skid surface to prevent slipping. Cast is reusable and recommended for 45 minutes of use. To release air from the watertight seal, lift the corner of the cast.

To slide on the XeroSox® Waterproof Cast Cover:

Attach the open end of the pump to the outside valve. Stretch on the XeroSox ® Waterproof Cast Cover so that it completely covers the cast or bandage, and an additional inch (25mm) or more of bare skin. The top cuff should be smooth against the skin. Be aware that sharp fiberglass on a cast or a sharp fingernail can rip the XeroSox® Waterproof Cast Cover. Cover sharp objects with a bandage or a sock with the toe cut out.

To pump out the Air:

With the pump attached to the outside valve, repetitively squeeze the pump until it stays flat. Remove the pump and push on the safety cap. After creating the vacuum, observe the XeroSox ® Waterproof Cast Cover before going into the water. As long as the XeroSox ® Waterproof Cast Cover stays vacuumed (tightly wrinkled), it is sealed and completely watertight.

To slide the XeroSox® Waterproof Cast Cover off

When you are finished using the XeroSox® Waterproof Cast Cover, lift up the cuff to let the air back in. The XeroSox ® Waterproof Cast Cover should now feel loose. Slide the XeroSox ® Waterproof Cast Cover off.

Technical Specifications:

Materials: Made of high quality surgical latex and contains natural rubber latex.

Sizes: Cast sizes are for adult and children’s legs and arms. Measure for accurate sizing. Follow sizing instructions for measuring the arm and/or the leg, depending on which cast the individual needs. The circumference is more important than the length because it is critical for a good seal. Do not measure the cast, but around the bare arm or leg. If the individual is between two sizes or if it’s close, always go with the larger size.

To measure the circumference of the arm, measure about two inches above (proximal to) the cast or bandage. If the end of the cast is very close to the elbow, measure mid upper arm (bicep). To measure the leg, measure the circumference of the leg just above the cast or bandage. If the end of the cast is very close to the knee, measure mid-thigh.

An “x-small” arm has the circumference of 6 to 7 inches and an arm length of 15 inches. A “small” arm has the circumference of 7 to 9 inches and an arm length of 21 inches. A “medium” arm has the circumference of 6 to 7 inches and an arm length of 15 inches. A “large” arm has the circumference of 10 or more inches and an arm length of 15 inches.

A “small” half arm has an arm circumference of 7.5 – 9.5 inches and a length of 16.5 inches and a “large” half arm has a circumference of 9.5 or more inches and a length of 18.5 inches.

To measure the leg, measure its circumference just above the cast or bandage and if the end of the cast is very close to the knee, measure the mid-thigh.

An “x-small” leg has the circumference of 7.5 – 11 inches and a leg length of 19 inches. A “small” leg has the circumference of 14 – 16.5 inches and a leg length of 29 inches. A “medium” leg has the circumference of 16.5 – 21 inches and a leg length of 33 inches. A “large” leg has the circumference of 21 inches and up and a leg length of 37 inches.

A small half leg has a leg circumference of 10 – 13 inches and a leg length of 21 inches. A large half leg has the circumference of 13 inches and up and a leg length of 23.5 inches.

Note that the circumference is more important because it is critical for a good seal and if the user falls between two sizes, select the larger size.
