PROTOTYPE -- Autonomous Toileting Assistive Device is a prototype designed for use by individuals with severe upper arm deformities and minimal grasping capabilities to promote independence in self-cleaning following a bowel movement. The purpose is to create a discrete device that can be concealed and mimic the natural wiping motion. The device is placed on the lip of a toilet such that the client can wipe across a foam wedge with a wet wipe that he/she independently places atop the wedge. The final model will be integrated into the client’s life and increase their level of independence.
