Pool Noodle Sensory Play is a water bin activity designed for children with motor disabilities to have them exercise their fine motor manipulation and bilateral hand control while using eye hand coordination.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • 2 different-colored pool noodles
  • a jump rope
  • a water bin filled with water
  • a ladle
  • scissors

Step Two: Cut the pool noodles up into 3-inch "beads" and place in the water bin.

Step Three: Have the child scoop the "beads" out of the bin one-by-one using the ladle and gather them in a pile on the floor.

Step Four: Cut the ends of the jump rope off using the scissors.

Step Five: Have the child lace the 3-inch "beads" onto the rope, making a pattern with the different-colored "beads".
