The DropTool 1000 Pack is designed for use by individuals with limited fine motor and grasping difficulties while trying to use an eyedropper. The Drop tool is designed as a bottle-squeezing tool that fits around the eye drop bottle and allows the user to suspend the bottle over their eye at a comfortable angle with enhanced stability. This device works by a pinch of the arms and the right amount of fluid is dispensed.

In response to his own needs, Jack realized there were hundreds of thousands of glaucoma and other eye-ailment patients who were also stymied by this difficult task. As a result, he developed a prototype of the CapTool, and showed it to his ophthalmologist, who was ecstatic. His eye doctor said patients could really use this multi tool. This encouraged Jack to create The CapTool. It is the only product on the market that combines a twist-cap opener with a shrink wrap remover.

CapTool creator Jack Colgan is many things: a veteran of the US Navy, a student of DeVry Technical University, a patent-holding inventor, a happily married man of 52 years and a father of two, a former V.P. of Marketing, an active member in the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer, a mentor of foster children, a business owner and an entrepreneur. He is also a glaucoma patient. As such, he has firsthand experience with the difficulties that accompany opening eye drop bottles and it was these difficulties that inspired him to develop the CapTool and DropTool

His varied life experiences have taught him one thing: Often, people need help. It was with this motto in mind that he set out creating devices to help simplify the seemingly small areas of others’ lives that might cause larger troubles. “The simplest solution is the best solution,” Jack says. “The simpler, the better. It’s easier for the user, and the less complicated something is, the less chance for confusion or failure. I want to make devices that enable and empower with minimal effort – mental or physical.”

With these basic precepts in mind, Jack founded JCA, Inc. in 1992. JCA, Inc. is dedicated to creating and providing devices to those in need of assistance in the opening and dispensing of eye drop bottles, with particular emphasis on producing competitively priced and state-of the-art devices. JCA, Inc. does not intend to merely stop at eye drop solutions either; it is continually searching for new products to serve other medical industries and their patients, wherever assistance may be needed.
