Play Dough and Alphabet Beads Activity is a method designed for children with learning disabilities to explore letters, develop fine motor skills, and learn sight words.

Technical Specifications:

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Alphabet Beads
  • Play Dough

Step Two: To begin, let the children explore the letters and the play dough any way they want. They can hide beads in play dough balls and stick beads all over piles of play dough. As they play, they can discover that the beads can be used to stamp the play dough.

Step Three: If they are not already doing it, show them how to stamp the alphabet in play dough.

Step Four: The teacher thinks of a simple CVC word like “can” or “map”.

Step Five: The children sound it out to find each individual letter needed to spell that word and then place them in order in the play dough.

Step Six: The children pull the letter beads up carefully to reveal the stamped word in the play dough.
