?

In 2002, Alice Walker and Diane Luzny combined their desire to help people with special needs and their love of creative sewing to create InnovAID.

Alice, who worked at the Robin Hood Centre for People with Disabilities teamed up with Margaret Galipeau, a physical therapist who specialized in sensory processing disorder (SPD), to design a weighted vest that was more effective than anything she could find on the market.

Diane offered her expertise in marketing, structure and business organization to bring the project to life.  Shortly thereafter, Alice, being of retirement age, left InnovAID when she realized there were other interests calling her name.  Thankfully, she continues to be an informal consultant to InnovAID.

As InnovAID grew, Diane had the honour of being on the board of SPDCanada.org (Sensory Processing Disorder Canada).  After a successful multi-year run, SPDCanada.org closed in November 2012.  Through it, Diane gained a broader awareness of the frustrations, joys, needs and resource of people with SPD.

InnovAID’s focus is on the creation and selling of well-designed and quality-made products for people with special needs, mostly people with sensory issues. One of InnovAID's unique qualities is that many of our products can be customized or custom-made.
