The Count and Smash Play Dough Math Activity is a do it yourself playdough mat activity designed for children with sensory processing disorder to make and play with.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Play Dough (storebought or homemade)
  • Large Die
  • Play Dough Tools
    • Rolling pin
    • Knife
    • Play dough stamps
    • Small pail
    • Play ammer

Step Two: Roll the play dough into small balls about one inch thick and place them in the small pail.

Step Three: The child uses the rolling-pin, the knife tool and play dough stamps to create shapes in the play dough to match the dots on the die. 

Step Four: The child uses fine motor skills to create "nests" with the balls of play dough and counts them.
