Ds100 Series Audible Pedestrian Signal

The DS100 Series Audible Pedestrian Signal is designed to improve crosswalk safety for pedestrians who are blind or have low vision. This audible pedestrian signal (APS) features up to four Walk "Cuckoo" & "Peep" sound and Dynamic Proportional Volume Compensation that monitors the ambient noise level and adjusts output to ensure the audibility of the signal. Volume is normally preset to 5 decibels (dB) above ambient noise. Another feature, Sound Inhibit, allows the audible signal to be disabled at sensitive periods, during complex traffic phases, or as required. A Button Actuated Timer (BAT) can be set to generate WALK sounds with the WALK visual signal only when the WALK button is held down for 3 seconds (duration is adjustable). Customized messages or sounds up to 15 seconds long can also be played. Customized messages are directly recordable into DS100 or they can be factory programmed. This APS uses advanced electronics with minimum power consumption and long unattended life. Most adjustments can be made without opening the case. The rugged case shields the components against the elements and the heavy-duty locking swivel arm protects connecting cables from vandalism. POWER: Uses 115 volts alternating current (AC) obtained from pedestrian signal. OPTIONS: A Pedestrian Acknowledge Device (PAD) is available that turns on a small, high intensity light emitting diode (LED) signal when a crosswalk button is pressed. By assuring pedestrians that their walk request has been received, PAD reduces the number of unnecessary button presses, which are the principle cause of shortened switch service life. PAD can be retrofitted into any pedestrian pole using existing wiring. Another option is a solid state push button switch with no moving parts and no contacts to corrode.
