Signtel Interpreter

The SignTel Interpreter is a communication aid for the deaf designed to enable individuals with hearing disabilities to communicate with hearing individuals without an interpreter. The software offers a database of more than 30,000 different recognizable words and phrases and 1,400 idioms and their equivalent signs captured on video and digitized. The included microphone enables allows spoken English to be recorded so that voice recognition technology can seamlessly translate the words and their expressed meanings into Sign Language in real time. Similarly, text entered using the keyboard can also be translated. Any spoken message or typed text is automatically translated into digitized Sign Language, and the person who is deaf can keyboard a message or response to be spoken in digitized speech. Standard features include speech-to-text and sign language, text-to-speech translation, a pop-up signing box that enables quick translation of text from any source, visibility of the signer's mout during finger spelling and signing of numbers, spell check built in to the text box, synchronized computer audio, customizable dictionary, on-screen signing dictionary, and the ability to pause, forward, and rewind desired words or segment of text.COMPATIBILITY: IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum requirements for the desktop computer version are a Celeron 500 processor, 64 megabytes (MB) RAM, and one gigabyte (GB) of free hard drive space. Suggested requirements are a Pentium 3 700 processor, 128 MB RAM, and two GB of hard drive space. The system requirements for the laptop computer version are a Pentium 2 800 processor, 192 MB RAM, and five GB hard drive space.
