Veterans, their families and caregivers eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

Apr. 10—Veterans, their spouses (including surviving spouses), their caregivers, and anyone who receives Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine is due to the Save Lives Act signed by President Biden in March.

Anyone who served in the U.S. military, National Guard, reserves or Coast Guard qualifies, including officers of the public health service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (or Coast and Geodetic Survey), cadets in military academies, and midshipmen in the US. Naval Academy.

To get vaccinated, you can go to va.gov/covid-19-vaccine and register. Once registered, a scheduler will work with you to make an appointment for the shot. You can also call 1-800-382-8387 and select option 8 to request an appointment.

There is also a drop-in site next week. Martinez VA Medical Center at 150 Muir Road will be hosting walk-in inoculations on April 13 and 15, from 8 a.m. to noon in building AB-6.
