Humane Society of Elkhart County to host Veterans Day Adoption Special

Goshen News - 11/9/2023

Nov. 9—BRISTOL — The Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 C.R. 19, will be hosting its first-ever Veterans Day Adoption Special this Saturday.

With this adoption special, anyone who shows a valid Military ID or DD-214 will receive waived adoption fees, free annual vaccinations for the lifetime of the pet, and 50% off a leash, collar, harness, or cat carrier, a news release stated.

"When I was a veterinarian in the Army, I felt such a sense of purpose in providing preventive veterinary care to pets of people in the military," U.S. Army Veteran and HSEC's Director of Veterinary Care Dr. Kari Kryder said in the release. "I felt humbled in front of those that were willing to sacrifice so much for me and my country. Now I am very proud to be able to do the same for the veterans in our area."

All adoptions are done on a first-come, first-adopt basis, and no holds will be allowed to be placed on any animals.

HSEC is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and advocate for the care of animals. Every pet comes spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. HSEC is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
